K-State ASI To Host Open House Activities April 12

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State University All-University Open House will take place on Saturday, April 12, with activities across campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Department of Animal Sciences and Industry (ASI) will host several events throughout the day.
A highlight of Open House each year is the Little American Royal (LAR), traditionally hosted in Weber Arena. This year, the event will take place at the K-State Sheep and Meat Goat Unit. LAR is a livestock showmanship contest hosted by the Block & Bridle and Dairy Science clubs, where students exhibit animals from the university farm units. The 95th Little American Royal Showmanship Contest will kick off at 10 a.m. Watch K-State students showcase their skills while showing swine, goats, sheep, dairy heifers, beef heifers, and horses. Scholarships sponsored by the Kansas Dairy Commission and the American Royal will also be presented during the event.
The Rodeo Club and Collegiate Cattlewomen will also have exhibits at the College of Agriculture Hub located on Waters Lawn. The Rodeo Club will feature roping demonstrations, while Collegiate Cattlewomen will showcase the importance of beef in their members' lives and globally. Merchandise will also be available for purchase.
The K-State College of Ag will host a special session at 11 a.m. in Waters Hall, offering prospective students an inside look at the student experience within the college. Faculty and students will share insights into internships and career pathways for graduates pursuing degrees in agriculture and related fields. The Call Hall Dairy Bar will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., serving hot dogs and chips for $3 starting at 10 a.m. while supplies last. This year, they will host a “Pound-a-Pint” competition, where participants compete to see who can eat the most ice cream for prizes. The competition will have two rounds and is limited to 20 contestants.
The College of Agriculture invites you to attend the K-State Alumni and Friends Reunion from 3 - 6 p.m., following the conclusion of Open House. This event will not only attendees to reconnect with College of Agriculture alumni, faculty and staff but also recognize some incredible faculty and alumni for their exceptional achievements. The K-State Judging Team Reunion will take place on April 12, bringing together past and present members of the livestock, meat, horse, and dairy judging teams to celebrate the success of the 2024 judging teams. The reunion will begin with a golf tournament at Colbert Hills, followed by an evening banquet at the Stanley Stout Center to honor past teams and recognize the legacy of excellence within K-State judging teams.
