Dr. Gomez-Leon's expertise includes reproduction, with a focus on improving dairy production systems. His extension program aims to provide data-driven information to producers and train the dairy workforce on aspects such as management, reproduction, health, and milk quality.

Key points of his program:

Development of the Dairy Educational Extension Program (DEEP) in Dairy Cattle reproduction, health, and milk quality – Aim to train the dairy workforce through workshops, seminars, and schools for the dairy industry in English and Spanish
Provide expertise on dairy cattle reproductive management to the dairy industry
Work with stakeholders to enhance fertility while simplifying management strategies for heifers and lactating cows
Research on elucidating, controlling, and manipulating ovarian and uterine dynamics in cattle with the potential to be translational research for humans
Supervises the ASI’s Physiology and Endocrinology Lab and co-supervises the Dairy Sciences Club and the Dairy Teaching and Research Center
