Dr. Gomez-Leon's expertise includes reproduction, with a focus on improving dairy production systems. His extension program aims to provide data-driven information to producers and train the dairy workforce on aspects such as management, reproduction, health, and milk quality.
Key points of his program:
- Development of the Dairy Educational Extension Program (DEEP) in Dairy Cattle reproduction, health, and milk quality – Aim to train the dairy workforce through workshops, seminars, and schools for the dairy industry in English and Spanish
- Provide expertise on dairy cattle reproductive management to the dairy industry
- Work with stakeholders to enhance fertility while simplifying management strategies for heifers and lactating cows
- Research on elucidating, controlling, and manipulating ovarian and uterine dynamics in cattle with the potential to be translational research for humans
- Supervises the ASI’s Physiology and Endocrinology Lab and co-supervises the Dairy Sciences Club and the Dairy Teaching and Research Center
